Based on years of experience in facade business I found optimizing the facade form very hard. You need to optimize the form for energy and light, glass waste and structure. It is too much work and most of the times it is not up to perfection.
So I decide to develop a software that can calibrate a form based on architects needs to a building, export all the necessary cad files, calculate the light and energy issues and finally prepare the glass cutting files for the factory.I asked Mr. Salehi and Hashemi from Paratech Studio (They are specialized in Grasshopper development )to prepare a proof of concept for us.
They used Rhino & Grasshopper and some other plugins to design the first version. it was simple but enough to get the funds. I am planning for 3 months of software design and 2 months of test for second generation which will not cover the structural analysis but it will be full parametric. For example the architect can make adjustments to the form and TADA ! all the outputs will be re-generated automatically based on the new form. Also you can run the algorithm for optimizing some parameters. like the size of a louver for achieving certain amount of shading.
